Most water recycling regulations, such as Title 22 in California, are primarily intended toprotect public health. The main water quality parameters covered by the regulations areturbidity (or clarity) and level of disinfection. However, most industrial users of recycledwater are also concerned with water quality parameters that are related to scaling, corrosion, biofouling, the number of cycles of concentration that can be achieved and thepotential for emissions of airborne particulate matter. This paper discusses the additionalwater quality issues related to use of recycled water for industrial cooling. Examples ofexisting industrial recycled water users are highlighted. Includes 2 references, tables, figure.
