Most of the analytical methods used for determining biocide retentions in treated wood are carried out on aweight/weight basis. These retentions are then converted to a weight/volume basis using average wooddensity values. This Standard gives the average values for wood densities of the wood species or speciesgroupings listed in the AWPA Commodity Standards for use in biocide retention calculations for all applicableAWPA "A" Standards. More accurate sample retentions can be obtained by using the specific gravity of the untreated wood. When this option is used, the specific gravities should be determined in accordance with ASTM Standard D2395.
